Fifth Grade Field Trip to Peoria - May 2012
Lakeview Museum & O’Brien Field
| On Wednesday, May 9th, the fifth grade students at PCES headed down to Peoria for a class trip. Their first stop was at Lakeview Museum. The current exhibit at the museum is Be the Dinosaur: Life in the Cretaceous. This awesome exhibit was divided into two parts. The first part was an exhibit of casts made of dinosaur fossils. The second part was an interactive center that allowed the students to be virtual dinosaurs. The students got a chance to be a dinosaur for a day. They were able to hunt, eat, swim, and run from predators as a real T-Rex or Triceratops would. While at Lakeview Museum, the students also spent time in the Discovery Center where they could play with some of the hands on displays and go to the two presentation rooms to learn about weather and light. After a quick lunch at the Lakeview park, the students boarded the buses and headed down to O’Brien Field, home of the Peoria Chiefs and Bradley University baseball team. The students took a tour of the facility and saw the Bradley University baseball team practice, the Chiefs locker room, one of the executive suites, and the sound/media room. This wonderful trip was funded by a generous donation from the PCEF. The fifth grade students and teachers wish to give a big “thank you” to PCEF for making the trip possible. | |
