UPDATE 02-01-2012 - State Changes their rule on Immunizations again

Plus Immunization Clinic Dates

by Chris Sabotta

State of Illinois changes school ruling again

On 10/27/11, the school received notice that the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) changed their rule on immunizations.  Starting in August 2012, all students in 6th through 12th grades must have a Tdap shot (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis).   However,

On 1/25/12, the IDPH sent notice that they are changing the rule again.  In August 2012, the school will enforce this shot only for grades 6 and 9.  The State asserts that this new change “will lessen the burden on schools.”

(Reminder: physicals are also required for grades 6 and 9.)

We will be holding immunization clinics at school on the following dates:

March 27th – Junior High building (incoming 9th graders, and others who would like the shot)

April 17th – Elementary building (incoming 6th graders)

Many parents received letters from the school stating their children may need this shot.  While the shot is encouraged for any child over the age of 10, only the grades above will be enforced for school attendance.  If you have any questions, please call me at 815-882-2800 ext. 547.

Thank you,
