2010-2011 School Year Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The first day of school for 2010-2011 school year is Tuesday, August 17th. The district is scheduled to have an 11:30am dismissal.
The Primary School begins dismissal at 11:15am on district 11:30am dismissal days. This is the dismissal time for both parent pick up and crosswalk.
Regular dismissal is 3:10pm parent pick up and 3:15pm crosswalk.
If at all possible, please use the crosswalk for pick up as much as possible. This helps with the traffic back up in the back parking lot.
Below are some reminders about student drop-off and pick-up:
1. No one is at the school to supervise the children until 7:30 am. If you need to drop your children off before 7:30am, special arrangements will need to be made with the office. Please stop by the office or call the school at 815-882-2800 to make those arrangements.
2. Parents/Guardians need to be very careful when using the front of the school building to drop students off between 7:20am-8:00am and when picking them up between 3:00pm-3:45 pm. This is a very busy time for the buses, and it is not the best place to drop off and pick up students. Parents/Guardians are not allowed to park in front of the school between these times, and at no time are vehicles allowed to pass the buses when they are signaling to load and/or unload students. This is against the law.
It is strongly suggested that parents/guardians use the crosswalk located at the corner of Silverspoon and Colby or the back parking lot of the school to drop off and pick up students. A crossing guard is on duty from 7:45am to 8:00am to help the students in the morning, and a crossing guard will walk the students from the Primary School to the crosswalk at the end of the school day.
Parents/Guardians wishing to speak with the office or teachers, and parents/guardians waiting for students at the front of the school, will need to park in visitor parking or wait at the crosswalk. The back lot is used for drop-off and pick-up only, not parking.
3. All students arriving after 8:00am may be dropped off in the front of the school by the front entrance. Please watch for late buses. They have the right of way.
4. Pick-up begins at 3:10pm in the back lot. We are moving the student pick up line farther up this year to avoid street traffic. Please pull up to door entry E not door entry C like last year. Please have your family name tag displayed. No car pick-ups can be made in the front of the school because of the buses. If your child is a walker he/she will be walking from the school with the crossing guard to the corner of Silverspoon and Colby.
