AR Information!

Want to find out if a book has an AR quiz?  Check out AR BookFinder at http://www.arbookfind.com/

You can use the “Quick Search” tab to type in the name of a book to see if there is a quiz for it.

Another option is to click on the “Advanced Search” tab and search for more books by your favorite author. You can also find books at your interest level as well as by topic headings.

Students at PCES, PCJHS, and PCHS have access to all of the AR quizzes that are available.  If we do not have the book in our school library, please check out your public library!  They will be happy to help you find a book!

AR Home Connect

Students at Putnam County Elementary School, Putnam County Junior High School, and Putnam County High School are able to access the Accelerated Reader quizzes on-line now.   For those who do not know, Accelerated Reader is a reading program that uses computer quizzes to award points based on reading level, length of book, and scoring at least 60-70% on the quiz.  The books average about 10 points, although they range from 2 points to 150 points.  With the new system, we are able to access over 110,000 quizzes.

An important part of the new AR system is that parents of students in grades 3-12 can participate in their child’s reading experiences.  Parents can access information through Home Connect.  Those parents with Internet access can go to https://Hosted170.renlearn.com/182410/HomeConnect/Login.aspx.  Use your child’s user name and password.  Here, you can click “Email Setup” to sign up to receive e-mails showing your child’s quiz or test results.  You can also see any goals and progress towards those goals.  You can also see which books your child has read.  Students are not able to take quizzes outside of school.

To check if a book has an AR test, you can always visit http://www.arbookfind.com/

The Elementary teacher, Junior High Literature teachers, the High School English teachers, and the Media personnel encourage parents to participate in this program.  If you have any questions, please contact Annette Davis, K-12 Media Director, at the high school: (815) 882-2800, ext. 230, or by e-mail:  davisa at putnam.k12.il.us.  Thank you!
