Superintendent’s April 2009 NewsLetter

by Jay McCracken

April 29, 2009

Our school year continues to progress rapidly, and our students, staff, administration, and school board have accomplished numerous milestones throughout the past months.  We are proud of the excellent achievements of our students, and during the month of May we will honor our young people who have excelled in so many realms at our Putnam County Schools.

At our recent P.C. Partners in Education event, many parents and family members experienced an enjoyable evening together, while focusing on workshops for parents.  The Putnam County Partners in Education Committee wishes to express tremendous gratitude to the sponsors who  helped to make the event possible. The sponsors included The Village of McNabb, The Village of Granville, The Village of Hennepin, Casey’s General Store, North Central Bank, Granville Drug, Al Cioni Ford, Gonet-Opper Insurance, Washington Mills, Hennepin Food Mart, P.C. Foods, Precision Auto Clinic, Hennepin Marine, Jack’s Gas & Service, Dr. Robert B. Dawe, The Putnam County Health Department, and The Putnam County Wellness Committee.  We also extend our sincere thanks to the outstanding presenters who devoted much time and expertise to provide high quality workshops for our parents.  We look forward to offering this opportunity in the future to assist our parents and families as they work with us as “Partners in Education.”

The final work is being completed on the new Putnam County Primary School, and we look forward to the public open house on July 25th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  More details will be provided before that date, but we will celebrate the history of our Putnam County Schools during that exciting day.  Please mark your calendars for July 25 and plan to enjoy the festivities!

In the near future, we will reactivate the Putnam County CUSD 535 Parent Advisory Committee.  There will be a representative from each community in our county who will serve in this advisory position.  In past years, a similar committee provided input to the school district regarding topics of educational importance for our students.  This committee should be ready to serve by the beginning of our next school year.

I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events in May!

Yours in Educational Service,

Jay K. McCracken, Superintendent
